This is really the guts of what we do. They are always in a state of change and modification. Have a look at some of the pictures and text on the "Turbines" pages. They vary from a "Girrard" built in 1912 to "Barnes" (actually a modified washing machine with crossflow pretentions) built in 2002. All the water passes through or over the dam - the picture shows the trash filter for the crossflow. |

This is the only known working example of the Barnes-Allison crossflow turbine If you think it looks remarkably like an old wasking machine on its side with some extra bits welded on then you are very perceptive and really should come and find out how it's done. See you soon |
